LESSON 1 - Spanish Alphabet & Vowels

Welcome to my blog! Hope you find it interesting, fun and helpful.

Firstly, let me introduce you the complete Spanish Alphabet

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n ñ o p q r s t u v w x y z
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N Ñ O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

As you can see, it has a lot in common with the English alphabet, except for the letter Ñ that is exclusive for Spanish.

The next step is to learn how to pronounce the Spanish vowels. It is easy, there is only one pronunciation for each vowel:

A - like in father - in IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) is /ɑ:/
E - like in pet - in IPA is /e/
I - like in green - in IPA is /i:/
O - like in dog - in IPA is /ɒ/
U - like in toon - in IPA is /ʊ/

In our next lesson, we will practice how to pronounce the vowels learnt reading some words in Spanish. You will see how easy it is. :) See ya!
